Hi Wildcats! I’m Regan Blume and just moved back to my favorite city, Des Moines, from Austin, Texas! I taught special education for Des Moines Public Schools for 7 years and general education for 3 years. After living in Iowa for 32 years, I moved to Austin and taught 1st grade for 3 years. Education and working with children is my passion and I’m thrilled to be working with students and families at Garton!
A few of my favorite things outside of education are cheering for Iowa State, doing anything outdoors- hiking, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc. and traveling often.

Happy new school year! I am excited to return as special education support at Garton. I received my under grad and graduate degrees at Brigham Young University. I began my education career by working as an Elementary School Counselor on the Navajo reservation In Shiprock, New Mexico for seven years while completing my school psychologist training. I love to be helping develop strategies and skills to help students learn and grow with knowledge and skills for successful independent living as adults. I think that my love of learning came from my father who taught his children that a secret to enjoying life is to keep learning at least one new thing every day.
This is my 41st year working in schools. I’ve worked across all grade levels from pre-school through high school; but my greatest love is elementary school students. I have one adult daughter and a 5 year old rescue cat named Lily.
